After an amazing and exhausting summer, we’re settling into early fall here! We try to cook at home as much as possible, but with homework and after school activities it can be a challenge to find time to cook a healthy meal, so I thought I’d share some of my favorite Fall helpers! I’m hoping to start posting more food related content and recipes in the coming months, but figured I’d start here with a few basics that make our life easier.
One site that helps a ton with batch cooking is Once a Month Meals. Mealtime is a bit complicated in our home and I really like about the site is the customization options. I rarely meat, but my boys are serious meat eaters. My husband has gluten and dairy sensitivities, so sometimes we’re making 3 different meals to feed all of us! You can choose any one of their menus to start with (vegetarian, Whole 30, crockpot, kid friendly, Paleo, Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Seasonal, breakfasts, etc) which l may fit your needs as is, or you can modify each menu to pick the recipes that will work best for you. Then the system will give you all the info you need to prepare your meals, including shopping lists, recipes and labels. We made some modifications (added a couple of breakfasts for easy mornings) to this menu: and grilled a bunch of chicken, so we can freeze it and have it ready for whenever the boys want some meat.
