Childbirth Education

Small Group Childbirth Education

I offer private and small group childbirth education classes tailored to the type of birth you are planning, hospital, birthing center or home. If you’re looking for a crash course in childbirth in a relaxed, intimate environment, this is the class for you! For comprehensive childbirth education, I recommend taking my two workshops: Your Birth, Your Way and Partner Support for Labor & Birth, which can be taken in any order.

Sometimes people ask, “what’s your childbirth method?” A great question! I’m certified in the Lamaze Method, I took Bradley classes with my 1st pregnancy and I’m trained as a Hypnobirthing doula. So I like to say that I take the best of everything I have learned  to provide you with comprehensive childbirth education so you can feel empowered by your birth experience. Here’s a bit about each of my offerings.

Your Birth, Your Way

In this 6 hour session, we’ll go over:

  • Signs and stages of labor
  • What to expect at the hospital/birthing center/ homebirth situations
  • Pain management options, including benefits and risks of epidurals
  • Birth plans/preferences – looking at all of your options so you can design birth preferences for your ideal birthing situation
  • Tools to help you make informed decisions, so you can feel empowered by your birth experience
  • Tips to avoid a cesarean section or improve your odds of a VBAC
  • Any questions you may have

I’m currently offering online childbirth classes only. This will be a live session through Zoom, meeting for 3 weeks, 2 hrs per session. The fee is $250/couple and includes the Online Partner Support for Labor class below.

If this is not possible for you financially, please reach out. I want this to be accessible for all.

Partner Yoga for Labor & Birth

The presence and participation of a birth partner can have an enormous impact on a mother’s satisfaction with her birth experience. Through partner yoga postures, breathwork, massage, essential oils and other comfort techniques, this workshop will give partners tools to confidently support their lovely mommas-to-be. Connecting with our partners during this deeply important transitional time, this hands-on exploration will help to open up a new way of looking at the process of labor. With an emphasis on a practical approach to helping labor progress more smoothly, we will workshop breathing techniques, intuitive touch for partners, as well as positions for labor to help manage pain and cultivate a relaxed state during birth.

This workshop is open to pregnant people at any stage of pregnancy and their birth partner. *No experience necessary*

PRIVATE SESSIONS

Additionally, I offer a 2-part Comprehensive Childbirth Education series as an in-home class for $600. If you’ve already taken a traditional childbirth class or are preparing to welcome a 2nd baby and just need a refresher, I also offer the Partner Yoga for Labor class as an 1.5 hour private session for $275. Contact me to set up private sessions.

What people are saying about Aimee’s Childbirth Education Classes:

“Aimee was extremely prepared and was able to use her vast knowledge to explain the sometimes complicated and overwhelming concepts of pregnancy, labor, and delivery in ways that made the most sense and put us at ease.” A.T.

“I’m in the medical-science field so I have a great appreciation for people who know their facts and are able to communicate them in a digestible way to others who may not be. Very unbiased in my opinion which is refreshing because you will encounter people in this line of work who push their own agenda. -T.G.

“She was relatable and non-judgmental about choices for pain management or anything else. It was easy to connect with her and if I was looking for a doula I wouldn’t hesitate to hire her, she has a way of putting you at ease.” -S.S.

  • …Yoga

I have been practicing prenatal yoga at Sangha Yoga Shala for the past 10 weeks and I have to say that it's my favorite part of being pregnant.  I can't say enough positive things about Sangha Yoga Shala and Aimee. They are both wonderful! Aimee is also an incredible teacher.  She is so patient and kind and really knows a lot about pregnancy.  Her insights about pregnancy have been so useful.  Her yoga practice is gentle but it provides a great workout as well. If you are pregnant, you should definitely come to Sangha Yoga Shala for prenatal yoga.  I'll be so sad when I can no longer take the class!  It's really fantastic! -Hanna

Prenatal yoga has been really helpful as a confidence building exercise for me. I came into yoga with a back injury and a little nervous about whether or not I could physically do all of this, and yoga has really helped that. Aimee's classes have been great for me. I've been traveling to different countries and different states for the last 2-3 months and I've done prenatal yoga everywhere and I'm so happy to be back home here. - Melysa

I find the class really helpful. I feel like it's a bit of a workout, but at the same time I feel really relaxed at the end of the session and it's just getting me very mentally prepared for the big day.  - Sara

It's been wonderful. It's something I look forward to every week. It's been relaxing, it's been a workout and I've been able to take some of the movements I've learned in class home and continue throughout the week.  - Liz

I highly recommend prenatal yoga with Aimee. I am also looking forward to trying baby & me yoga here. Just overall great atmosphere as well. -Aimai

  • …Doula

Aimee is a wonderful doula. My boyfriend and I met with her a couple of times before I went into labor to talk about what kind of support we were looking for. I also got to pick out my favorite scents out of her aromatherapy kit - a nice little bonus. I had a homebirth and Aimee showed up a couple of hours before the midwives and communicated with them to let them know when they needed to come so I didn't have to think about all that. She is a kind and hard-working doula. She was always there to offer me a cool wash cloth, something to drink, a calming or invigorating scent when I needed it. She gave me the most helpful, strong pelvic presses when I had my pushing contractions. Those were the best pain killers! I was pushing for four hours and she never left me by myself through a contraction. My midwives told me afterwards what a great job they thought she did. I would hire her again in a heart beat.

My husband and I chose Aimee to support us at the birth of our first baby girl. Neither of us have any family here, and felt that we were missing the support and comfort that a mother or sister would bring. For me, having Aimee there to hold my hand through the contractions was just what I needed. I was extremely nauseaus during my entire labor, and really appreciated the scented oil that she had brought with her, which helped to alleviate the problem. Aimee was extremely calm and supportive of my decisions. If you are considering a doula, I highly recommend Aimee. She made a scary experience so much easier to bear.
    -Samantha
